Emily Silman

Fuqua School of Business
MBA Candidate, Class of 2016
Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area
I grew up in Vermont, attended Drew University for undergrad, and lived in NYC after college, where I primarily worked for Food Network on their dot-com and ecommerce businesses. However, I began to crave a business career that also had an impact, so I decided to finally pursue my long-delayed dream of serving in the Peace Corps in order to gain field experience. I lived and worked in Madagascar for 2 years, and my project was to implement a sustainability program with a cooperative of spice farmers who sold to Unilever. That project made a lightbulb go off in my head, and I realized that I was passionate about the power of large companies to make a positive impact on the world through their scale and scope. This summer I interned for The Coca-Cola Company's Office of Sustainability, based out of their India office. After I complete my MBA at Fuqua, I plan to pursue a career in corporate sustainability.
